Drive for furnace grate
All three grate carriages for grate zones 1 to 5 are moved back and forth by hydraulic drive cylinders.
Each grate carriage is mounted with 2 external hydraulic drive cylinders, these drive cylinders are moved steplessly in synchronization control by means of a displacement measuring system and proportional valve in master/master control. Synchronous drive (tolerance ± 0,25 - max. ± 1 mm).
Due to the design of the firing grate with external hydr. Drive cylinders, the moving rollers for the grate carriages, the cooling water hoses fed from the outside into the inside of the grate racks to supply the moving rows of grate bars, the grate substructure is very easily accessible.
New grate drive for grate cars
The KBS-Firing Technology of our office in Seattle US-WA, received in February 2021 the order for the complete elaboration of technical and basic design documents for an EfW-incineration plant with a thermal capacity of 90 MW. This Basic structure, was created as a 3-lane furnace grate. In the course of this design work, the motion drive for the grate cars was completely rebuilt. The entire structure was designed in such a way that all components that were previously installed in wheel housings are now freely accessible without these housings. The double-acting hydraulic cylinders of the grate drive were replaced by single-acting cylinders (plunger cylinders) in tandem arrangement. The measuring device, previously integrated in the hydraulic cylinder, has been mounted as external measuring electronics outside the grate frame. All fixed rollers were previously purchased as special versions (increased temperatures up to 150°). These components have been replaced by standard purchased parts. All components of the new design, are completely protected from ash dust. This new grate drive will also replace the previous one for single-lane grates.
